Harley-Davidson rides on a new model range for 2009

At Preston Harley-Davidson, there’s everything you’d expect from the world’s most famous motorcycle brand. All the very latest new models and preloved bikes to drool over, Genuine Harley-Davidson®Parts & Accessories, MotorClothes®for riding and fashion.  And of course Harley factory trained technicians to service and customise these legendary bikes.

Launching on 6th and 7th September 2008 at the dealership is a brand new model range for 2009.

Harley-Davidson has put an all-new chassis under its popular Touring models for 2009, redesigned from the tyres up for enhanced handling, load capacity and comfort. The five 2009 Touring models ride like new motorcycles, but the iconic styling of each has been carefully preserved.

The Motor Company also makes news in the power cruiser category, as the athletic lines and large volume dual exhaust of the new V-Rod Muscle™ (available in Europe in late 2008) takes the VRSC™ line in a new styling direction. Two other models, the Dyna® Street Bob® and the Heritage Softail® Classic, have received a significant styling make-over for 2009.

Recently launched in Europe in Spring 2008, the new XR 1200™ combines great street performance with purposeful motorcycling style and presence, and is the first Harley-Davidson® motorcycle which has been designed specifically to meet the needs of European customers on European roads. The bike’s original inspiration draws from the success of the legendary XR750™ flat track racer. However, the XR 1200’s ergonomics, components, handling and performance characteristics have been designed for the street, resulting in a performance oriented Roadster motorcycle that is built for the twists and turns of European roads.

“Under the skin, the 2009 Touring models are essentially new motorcycles,” says Steve Westray, Dealer Principal. “There is likely no profile on the road more distinctive than that of a Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle, and we were able to retain the character of each model while significantly improving the riding experience in many ways. With a new V-Rod Muscle model and other technical and styling updates, every Harley-Davidson motorcycle looks to the future while recognising the heritage.”

Forged of steel and torque, backed by millions of miles and a century of experience, Harley-Davidson motorcycles exert an irresistible force to move forward. Equally dedicated to innovation and heritage, Harley-Davidson fuels the rider’s passion with machines, and a motorcycling experience, that simply cannot be duplicated.

Highlights of the new 2009 Harley-Davidson line-up include:

Five Touring models rolling on a new chassis that combines a new frame, swingarm, wheels and tyres, plus revised exhaust and engine mounting. The results include sharper handling, more luggage capacity and passenger room, enhanced heat management and increased rear tyre life.

Toned and brawny, the V-Rod Muscle brings urban energy to the VRSC power cruiser platform. A large volume dual exhaust system, a clipped-and-clean rear end, and a broad-shouldered look courtesy of gaping air scoops are a perfect match for the high-revving power of the 1250 Revolution® V-Twin engine.

With styling and livery inspired by the legendary Harley-Davidson XR750 flat track racer, the XR 1200 has wide, black handlebars for dirt track looks and superb control, with semi-rearset footrests for excellent cornering clearance. It has sport tuned Showa® suspension including 43mm inverted front forks, powerful Nissin® brakes, downdraft fuel injection and lightweight cast wheels with a Flat Track inspired 3-spoke design, finished in black.

The Dyna Street Bob has received a fresh dose of retro bobber attitude, with a newly clipped rear fender, blacked-out powertrain and a tail light reminiscent of an old school garage custom.

Only Harley-Davidson would dare to change near-perfection and Harley-Davidson stylists have worked with great care to update the Heritage Softail Classic. Taller handlebars and a “cat’s eye” console are just two of the new features on this popular and nostalgic custom touring motorcycle.

The Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) crew has turned its inspiration loose on two new limited-production models for 2009, the CVO Fat Bob® and the CVO Road Glide®, each powered by the Screamin’ Eagle® Twin Cam 110™ engine and turned out in bright chrome, big paint and wild new accessories. The CVO Ultra Classic™ Electra Glide® and CVO Softail® Springer® make an encore appearance in 2009.

All Sportster® models have recalibrated suspension and improved damping for improved ride quality.

All Sportster and FX models have a new front fender that better matches the radius of the front tyre, closing the gap between fender and tyre for a cleaner look.

Harley-Davidson Motor Company, the only major U.S.-based motorcycle manufacturer, produces heavyweight motorcycles and a complete line of motorcycle parts, accessories and general merchandise.
